Fighting over a yoghurt pot and a lot of browsing the internet

Welch schöne Metapher! Affen verhalten sich irgendwie wie Menschen in Stressituationen. The Guardian: „A video filmed this week in Lopburi, north-east of Bangkok, showed large crowds of monkeys brawling in the streets, apparently fighting over a yoghurt pot. Residents in the city, which is famed for its monkey population, say the fall in tourist numbers means there are far fewer people offering food.“

And now for something completely different. Der Tagesspiegel schreibt, was der Kapitalismus-affine Journalist in seiner grenzenlosen Naivität so denkt: „…Freiberufler fallen zu lassen, das kann nicht der Anspruch einer sozialen Marktwirtschaft sein.“

Ach?! Kann es nicht? Der Kapitalismus kichert sich einen. By the way: Gibt es auch eine asoziale Marktwirtschaft? Nein, gibt es nicht. Soziale Marktwirtschaft ist Neusprech.

And now for something completely different. Ich versteht nicht, falls Quarantäne angesagt wäre, wie man sich auch nur eine Sekunde langweilen kann. Ich habe hier noch zwei Dutzend Bücher herumliegen, die ich alle noch lesen will – und komme leider nur selten dazu. Und es gibt immer genug zu entdecken, wenn man des Lesens temporär überdrüssig sein sollte. Emfpehlenswert auf Netflix: The Walhalla Murders sowie Jan de Lichte und seine Bande (den sollte man auf Flämisch (!) ansehen und mit deutschen Untertiteln – manchmal sprechen die auch im Original Deutsch).

And now for something completely different. IFLScience: „The long-lost capital of an ancient Maya kingdom has been discovered in the backyard of a cattle rancher in southeastern Mexico. Now dubbed Lacanja Tzeltal, named for the nearby modern community, the ancient city is thought to be the capital of the Sak Tz’I’ – “white dog” – kingdom, located in Chiapas, Mexico“.

Auch bildend und unterhaltend ist der Vorschlag: „Going into a self-quarantine can have many complex issues and complications beyond having enough food and supplies for two weeks. In terms of entertainment, it also probably means you’re in for a lot of boredom, a lot of Netflix, and a lot of browsing the internet.
