Private race to the moon

Israel will noch in diesem Jahr ein Fahrzeug auf den Mond schicken. „The nonprofit SpaceIL and the government-owned corporation Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced Tuesday (July 10) that they aim to launch a robotic lunar landing mission atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Florida this December.“

Wie man an dem Modell sieht, gibt es auch private Sponsoren – die Adelson Family Foundation und die Kahn Foundation. Die Israelis werden vermutlich auch den Google Lunar X Prize gewinnen.

„The lunar landing would make Israel the fourth country — after Russia, the United States and China — to put a craft on the surface of the moon.“

Vielleicht hätten die Palästinenser ihr jährliches Budget von 60 Millionen für den Terror besser für eine Mondlandung ausgegeben – und die Anführer der Hamas gleich mit einem One-Way-Ticket mitfliegen lassen?
